M18 Transitional

This M18 helmet has been restored to look like a early Third-Reich era helmet complete with a 1918 patternliner and carbine clip. The early shade of matte fieldgray is usually associated with helmets from theWeimar era. During the early 1930s many of these lateWorld War I and Reichwehr helmet were taken fromstorage to equip the growing Wehrmacht. Many of thesehelmets were seen on German troops entering theSudetenland and later during the invasion of Poland.

Austrian double decal transitional helmet

M18 helmet retro-fitted by the Germans after 1940 with a rough
textured field gray finish painted over the original
Apple green finish. Many of these were pressed into
service during the invasion of France and Russia when
existing stocks of M35s and M40s were depleted.
