This M16 helmet is a prime example of the so called tortoise shell camo employed by Imperial German troops in the late part of WWI. The geometric pattern was hand painted was using colors that would blend into this particular sector of the front

the 1920s Reichwehr. The
helmet features a matte
field-gray finish, three-pad M18 liner,carbine
clip
chinstrap and a hand painted Bavarian shield
indicating that this
helmet was worn by a member of
the Reichwehr in Bavaria
